DET TOMME KALDE MØRKE godhet/ondskap som drives av lengsel Og ikke av vilje For de som husker sin frelse Men kun frem til solnedgang A fate I could never resist This is my legacy My broken fist A phase yet to be known From the chaos I created alone I (have) lit my candle My heart exposed Creature of light Collapse is close For å rede ut av eget svik Bare for å kvele det I sin tvang Etter å være unik En død verden Ser med hvite øyne Innover det Som en gang var Kvass er kulden I hjertet til de Som reiser hjem I nederlag Ja, vi reiser Til Dødheimsgard A place so cold Dreams of mine it can not hold The currents They float downstream It holds your hand It holds your hand

ABYSS PERIHELION TRANSIT Beneath the sleep Adhering to a nature underneath Where we form An unbreakable bond With our own perception Of Reality Identity is a drug From oblivion Through the ethereal And the black vale Towards our faluts A slave to psychology Black veins A tumbling harness From the enclosure Freedom looks like failure Blame it on the surface Blame it on the surface Blame it on the surface Blame it on the surface Black veins A tumbling Harness From the enclosure Freedom looks like failure There is no way out of here There is no way out of here The abyss I heard it speak In my mind Live in fear I am told Then grow cold Non defined In my bones Under my skin The abyss It hears me speak In its mind Non defined In my bones Under my skin The Abyss It heard me speak In its mind

about

DØDHEIMSGARD – BLACK MEDIUM CURRENT

Mind - Impression – Idea – Belief – Semblance - Reality

A journey through the boundless layers of existence, for the new studio album of indrawn, brooding black metal from the Norwegian pioneers.

‘Black Medium Current’ is the sixth studio album by longstanding Norwegian avant-garde pioneers Dødheimsgard. From their influential and successful beginnings as a raw and grim black metal outfit established during the ongoing swelling of the “second wave” in the early-mid 90s, Dødheimsgard has subsequently evolved into a truly eclectic behemoth with each landmark release; a band now undoubtedly adorned with the mastery of mood and texture through intricate, dark metallic wonderment and unnerving eloquence.

‘Black Medium Current’ continues on the path set by 2015’s monumental and universally lauded ‘A Umbra Omega’ album; itself a deeply poignant and potent release of vast maturity and insight. And now mastermind Yusaf ‘Vicotnik’ Parvez returns with this expansive 70 minute venture through the fettered layers of the bleak existential cosmos. The result is an absorbing exploration through the fragility of the mind - nurtured and ultimately unmade through a process of belief and endless turmoil and contradiction, and how it sews itself into our reality.

‘Black Medium Current’ also represents a very personal album for Vicotnik, riding the torrents of tribulation and loss, lusciously entwined within creation. Haunting, cathartic and exquisite moments of reflection, dissected, and presented as a meticulously woven canvas of masterful and stirring music taking in a whole host of atmospheres and soundscapes encompassing the divine and the bizarre, from the depths of black metal, to sombre more classically centred piano pieces.

‘Black Medium Current’ was recorded and mixed at Top-Room Studios by Matias Aaversen, and produced by Vicotnik himself, with cover art courtesy of Łukasz Jaszak.
