honeycombguy Definitely one of the first albums I'll point someone to if they want to get into Opeth, alongside "Blackwater Park" and "Ghost Reveries". The story, musicianship, and songwriting are all top of the line. Favorite track: The Moor (Remastered).
Archmage Orladin

Archmage Orladin Simply the finest progressive death metal album of all time. A masterwork of story telling through not only the lyrics, but the atmosphere and texture of the music and the album artwork. Everything about this album comes together brilliantly. When this first came out I was thunderstruck and listened to it probably 10 times a day for weeks. Blackwater Park is my second favorite album by Opeth, but they never again created atmosphere and narrative like they did with this album. Favorite track: Moonlapse Vertigo (Remastered).

.-Great production & vocals.
.-Fantastic writing.
.-Conceptual (it tells a story throughout the album).

Lethean The ever-increasing sophistication may seem to have ripened around the early aughts , but somehow, Opeth has just kept getting better. Favorite track: Moonlapse Vertigo (Remastered).

about

Still Life was Opeth’s first outing for Peaceville and armed with renewed enthusiasm, the band delivered a flawless gem of an album. Originally released in 1999, the enigmatic Still Life, is an ambitious concept album focusing on a tale of forbidden love in dangerous times.

Featuring the extraordinary voice and poetic lyrics of Mikael Akerfeldt, Still Life's moods range from brutal passages of extreme metal to predominantly acoustic moments of breathtaking beauty.
