“This lyric feels very deterministic. Where will and one’s driven faith doesn’t match up. Maybe the conclusion here is acceptance of faith as well. The currents that holds your hand downstream. It is one’s own story for better or worse. The sense of defeat, not necessarily all negative, but rather intrinsic honesty. Learning how to be honest amidst self-deceit. A place in which one can stop moving opposite one’s own current, but instead be sort of free by giving into destiny. I have no moral liberty, my will is rather contained to whether I choose to be honest about what I am, or deceitful. This is the extent of freedom in a deterministic world. This cold empty darkness is the place you initially find yourself when ridding yourself of special pleading.”
